Journey
Voxyzie Bone, born Bongani Dlamini in Soweto, South Africa, is a composer, songwriter, producer, recording artist and creative director whose work spans amapiano, house, deep house, jazz, pop, gqom, hip-hop, electronic music and maskandi. He later settled in Kwanele South Section, Katlehong, where much of his musical career developed.
Dlamini began producing music in 2008 from his parents’ home, initially working in house and hip-hop with his friend Sbuda King. His early musical development also included playing drums as part of a drilling team in Kwanele, while his school years involved making mixtapes and informal performances. Those experiences helped shape the broad, production-focused approach that became central to his career.
Voxyzie Bone subsequently expanded his role beyond recording and production. He founded Namanje Dawg Entertainment (NDE), where he operates as a creative executive while continuing to compose and produce for his own catalogue and other artists. His professional activities also include videography, photography and directing. He has worked with performers from South Africa and abroad, including artists connected to Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, the United States and Zimbabwe. Downtown Music Publishing Africa listed him as a client, while Dlamini has also stated that his compositions were published through Sheer Publishing Africa.
His catalogue demonstrates a willingness to move between styles rather than remain within one genre. Earlier projects include "The Gqom Avenue" (2020), an 11-track electronic album, while subsequent releases expanded into piano and amapiano-oriented material. His 2024 album "Bones Billion Years" contains 15 tracks and is categorized as hip-hop, while "Amapiano Avenue," released in July 2025, contains 19 tracks. In 2026, his catalogue continued to expand through projects including "The Business man," "Amapiano Love Birds" and "Umzonkonko Wepiano."
His songwriting and production work has also received industry recognition. In 2021, he received nominations for the Mama Awards, LAMA Awards, GAMA Awards, Durban Challenge, and Djoocky International Music Awards. He later received three MEMA nominations for work including “Sound Africa” and “Njalo,” with “Njalo” earning recognition in the house category and for Banger of the Year.
A defining aspect of Voxyzie Bone’s career is his role as both artist and music-maker behind the records. His credits identify Bongani Dlamini as composer, songwriter and producer across numerous releases, including collaborations with Popzin and other South African artists. His career therefore extends beyond performing into composition, production, publishing, visual media and artist development, positioning Namanje Dawg Entertainment as an important part of his continuing creative work.
